The short version
We don't collect, store or see any information about you. Lodestar has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and it has no server of ours to send anything to. Everything the extension keeps is saved in your own browser, and nobody else can see it, including us. The only thing we ever receive is feedback you choose to send us through the form on this site.
Who we are
AQW Lodestar ("Lodestar", "we") is a free, open-source browser extension for AdventureQuest Worlds players, and this website is where you can download it. It's a fan project and isn't affiliated with Artix Entertainment.
What the extension keeps, and where
To work, Lodestar saves some things in your browser's own extension storage on your device:
- your farm list and saved items
- your inventory, if you sync it from your character page on account.aq.com (item names, quantities and types, so it can show which items you own)
- your settings, such as the theme, tooltip options and panel layouts
- a downloaded copy of the item catalog and short-lived copies of wiki pages, so it doesn't have to fetch them again
This data never leaves your browser and is never sent to us or anyone else. We have no way to see it. If you export a backup, the file is saved on your computer and goes wherever you choose to put it.
You can delete all of it at any time by removing the extension, which clears everything it saved.
Your AQW account
When you choose to sync your inventory, Lodestar reads it from account.aq.com using the session you're already logged in with, the same way the page itself does. It never sees, stores or sends your password, and the inventory it reads is kept only in your browser.
The "Use Lodestar inventory" button on AQCloset only fills in AQCloset's import field for you. Nothing is sent until you press AQCloset's own Import button yourself, and from then on AQCloset's own privacy policy applies.
Websites the extension connects to
To show tooltips, item lists and boosts, Lodestar loads public information directly from these sites. Your browser connects to them itself; nothing goes through us.
- AQW Wiki (aqwwiki.wikidot.com): item pages for tooltips and calculators
- account.aq.com and game.aq.com: your character page and item pictures
- AQCloset (aqcloset.com): item pictures and the try-on links
- artix.com: the calendar, for the server boost schedule
- GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com): the item catalog, downloaded about once a day
- Image services (imgur, and the image proxies of DuckDuckGo, WordPress, Google and wsrv.nl): only to load item pictures from the wiki that wouldn't load otherwise
These are ordinary web requests. Like any website you visit, these services can see the request itself (such as your IP address and the page or picture asked for) under their own privacy policies. Lodestar doesn't add anything about you to these requests.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers. The demos run entirely in your browser and nothing you do in them is saved or sent anywhere. Your light or dark theme choice is remembered in your browser's local storage. The service hosting this site may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability, as most web hosts do.
Feedback you send us
If you use the bug report and feature form on this website, we receive what you type into it: the type of message, its title, the description and, only if you give it, your email address. Nothing else is attached, and the extension never sends anything through this form.
The form is delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, an email forwarding service, which handles it under its own privacy policy. We use your message only to fix bugs and plan features, and your email address only to reply to you. We don't share either with anyone, add you to any list or use them for anything else. If you'd like a message you sent deleted, contact us and we'll delete it.
Children
Lodestar doesn't collect personal information from anyone, of any age. If you're under 13, please don't include your email address in the feedback form.
Changes to this policy
If Lodestar ever changes how it handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes out.
Questions
You can ask anything about this policy by opening an issue on GitHub. Lodestar is open source, so you can also read the code yourself and check exactly what it does.
